How to get Dubai drivers license with student visa?

I will be going to Dubai for school for a semester or more (5-6 months) and I am planning on possibly buying a car. I have a United States drivers license but I want to get a Dubai license. It says one of the required materials is a resident visa but for now I think i will have a student visa or student resident visa. I will be living at the University in Dubai and I want to know if I can get a dubai drivers license and how to do it

1. Sorry, not on a student visa (student residence visa does not exist). For an UAE drivers license and to have a car registered in your name a residence visa is required. If you re over 25 yers old and have a driver's permit since 3 years (requirements to rent a car), get an international driver's permit and rent a car.
